NJ Transit Fatality Today – Train Service Suspended After Millburn Fatality

MILLBURN, NJ – An intruder was beaten and killed on the rails at the Millburn station, suspending service on the Morris & Essex Line and Gladstone Branch rail lines Friday morning, officials said.

At approximately 6:45 am, train No. 6610 eastbound from Morris & Essex Line departing Dover at 0554 and arriving at Penn Station New York at 0717 struck and mortally wounded an adult male intruder. east of Millburn Station, officials said. About 700 customers and the crew on board were not injured.

NJ Transit tickets and rail passes are being honored by NJ Transit buses and private carriers on the Morris & Essex and Gladstone Branch rail lines, officials said. The New Jersey Transit police are on the scene to conduct the investigation.
